The Day One Travel biography series started as an unusual hybrid. The concept was for a new biographical series of major Christian figures, but with a virtual guided tour of the places they lived, worked and visited. But were they biographies or travel guides? The editors had lined up expert biographers, so the design had to have sufficient gravity. We took the view that it was better to treat them as pure biographies, but within a tall, travel guide format. The aim of the calm layout was to maintain the integrity of the copy, while making the subject accessible to a newer audience.
